The title “Sunset View” refers to the experience of a sunset from the perspective of a hotel guest: visitors are placed in a state of concentrated, meditative observation, which makes them aware of their sensory experience and evokes feelings of freedom and dissolution of boundaries. At the same time, the clichéd motif points to the fact that our “memory” always recapitulates past events from the perspective of the present and colours them accordingly. For the 19-minute long coloured light composition, the artist works with numerous self-recorded time-lapse videos of sunsets, abstract sunset simulations and generative forms.
